In recent years, Long An has made considerable strides in investing in and improving its power grid system while advancing the growth of renewable energy. These initiatives not only support the region’s socio-economic development but also play a key role in achieving the Government’s green energy transition objectives.

Expansion and improvement of the power grid system

According to the People’s Committee of Long An Province, continuous investment and expansion are being made to improve the power grid system in the area, aiming to better serve both production and the daily needs of the people. Currently, the 22kV medium voltage power grid has reached all communes, wards, and towns throughout the province, ensuring stable and safe operation.

Long An’s power grid system has an impressive scale, including:

  • 500kV power grid: Total length of 105.5km.

  • 220kV power grid: Total length of 80.31km

  • 110kV power grid: Total length of 433.16km.

  • Medium voltage lines: 3,430km

  • Low voltage line: Total length of 2,586km.

These figures highlight Long An’s focus on developing its power infrastructure to meet the growing demand for electricity, which helps ensure energy security and supports the attraction of industrial investment to the region.

Advances in renewable energy development

In addition to improving the power grid, Long An has made significant strides in renewable energy, particularly in solar power. Up to now, the province has 8 solar power plants in operation, with a total capacity of 440.1 MWp. Furthermore, the construction of the TTC Duc Hue 2 Power Plant, with a capacity of 49 MWp, is underway, promising to further boost the region’s clean energy supply.

Not only developing large-scale solar power projects, the rooftop solar power program in Long An also recorded positive results. The Electricity Industry has accepted, energized and signed power purchase agreements with 2,582 customers, totaling capacity of 510.8 MWp. This reflects the positive shift among businesses and residents towards adopting clean energy.

Long An I & II LNG Thermal Power Plant Project – New Growth Driver

One of the province’s key projects is the Long An I & II LNG Thermal Power Plant in Can Giuoc District, totaling capacity of 3,000 MW. The project has been granted an investment registration certificate by the Provincial People’s Committee and is in the implementation phase. Once operational, the project will not only ensure a stable power supply but also create momentum to promote local industrialization and modernization.

With the strong development of the power grid system and renewable energy projects, Long An is affirming its position as an attractive destination for investors in the energy sector. In addition, the province continues to promote solutions to improve the efficiency of electricity use, aiming at the goal of sustainable development, environmental protection and green energy conversion according to the general orientation of the Government.
