Vietnamese enterprises are increasingly transitioning to the use of renewable energy, playing a crucial role in promoting sustainable growth and mitigating environmental impacts. With government support, numerous companies have made significant investments in clean energy solutions. The adoption of renewable energy by Vietnamese enterprises is helping drive the development of a sustainable economy. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the share of renewable energy in the country\u2019s total energy supply surpassed 25% in 2023, with major sources including solar, wind, and biomass energy. A growing number of businesses, particularly in the manufacturing, construction, and service sectors, are shifting towards renewable energy sources to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2024, Heineken Vietnam has implemented a comprehensive set of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its production, transportation, and consumption processes. Between 2020 and 2023, the company successfully reduced CO2 emissions by over 10%. In addition to installing solar energy systems at its manufacturing facilities, the company is actively exploring solutions to ensure that 100% of the energy used at its brewing plants in Vietnam is sourced from renewable energy. <\/span><\/p>\n

Similarly, numerous companies in sectors such as leather footwear production, textiles, and manufacturing are working to increase the use of renewable energy in their production processes. These companies are focusing on the installation of solar energy systems to both optimize electricity costs and secure green certifications for their manufacturing activities. <\/span><\/p>\n

The year 2024 marks a turning point in the shift towards a sustainable energy structure, driven by new policies issued by the government. Businesses are gradually embracing the development of green energy sources in production and business operations. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the afternoon of November 25, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a conference to implement the Government’s Decrees aimed at promoting the development of renewable energy. During the conference, representatives from the Ministry presented three key topics as follows: <\/span><\/p>\n

Topic 1: Regulations on the direct electricity purchase and sale mechanism between renewable energy producers and large electricity consumers (Decree 80\/2024\/ND-CP).<\/span><\/p>\n

Topic 2: Regulations on the mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of self-produced, self-consumed rooftop solar power (Decree 135\/2024\/ND-CP).<\/span><\/p>\n

Topic 3: Matters related to the bidding process for energy infrastructure projects as outlined in the detailed provisions of the Procurement Law for selecting investors to carry out land-use energy projects (Decree 115\/2024\/ND-CP).<\/span><\/p>\n

Notably, during the conference, participants will have the opportunity to listen to presentations from local authorities, renewable energy producers, and large electricity consumers. <\/span><\/p>\n

The increased use of renewable energy is not only an essential trend but also a responsibility of Vietnamese businesses in their pursuit of sustainable development.
