At the conference, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province, Mr. Vu Van Dien, emphasized the need to increase the province’s wind power capacity from 400 MW to 600 MW. He said that Quang Ninh had many areas with potential for wind power development that had been carefully surveyed. At the same time, he also requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to soon issue cost norms (Fs) for the 1,500 MW LNG power project that started in 2021 and has now been completed. <\/span><\/p>\n

Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade of Kien Giang said that the province had more than 200 km of coastline and a large land area compared to other provinces in the Mekong Delta, creating favorable conditions for the development of renewable energy. Therefore, the province proposed to add 20 MW of waste-to-energy and 1,600 MW of wind power to the planning. <\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding solar power, Kien Giang has about 1,000 hectares of shrimp farming area that has been assigned to enterprises, but the land use is not effective. Many enterprises want to combine solar power models with shrimp farming, with a capacity of about 1,000 MW, and have proposed to add it to the province’s solar power planning. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, Mr. Pham S, said that the province had great potential for renewable energy, especially pumped storage hydropower in the Dong Nai River basin. In addition, he also proposed adding solar power projects on water surfaces to the planning, taking advantage of the existing but unexploited lake surface area. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the representative of the Department of Industry and Trade of Thai Nguyen province proposed to add 10 MW of waste-to-energy and 200 MW of solar power to the planning. Currently, the province is only allocated 52 MW of solar power, while the roof area of \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bthe industrial park is up to 6,000 hectares, creating favorable conditions for expanding the rooftop solar power model. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Industry and Trade agrees to support localities in developing renewable energy<\/b><\/h3>\n

Regarding the issue of LNG power development mentioned by Quang Ninh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long said that the Ministry was developing a Decree guiding the development of power sources and would soon issue it. Accordingly, the new mechanism will allow for the transfer of gas prices and the consumption of minimum electricity output, helping to remove difficulties for LNG power projects nationwide. <\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding rooftop solar power, after the Government issued Decree No. 135\/2024\/ND-CP on encouraging the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power, projects in industrial parks have developed strongly, and the Ministry will study and expand the scope of application. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long also affirmed that lake solar power will be prioritized for inclusion in the planning. <\/span><\/p>\n
